Tauric Military District

The Tauric Military District was a military district of the Soviet Union. It was formed in July 1945 in Simferopol, Crimea using the headquarters elements of the Separate Coastal and 22nd Armies.
The 7th Guards Army was stationed in Austria as part of the Central Group of Forces briefly after the war.〔V.I. Feskov et al 2004.〕 In 1946 it comprised three rifle corps totaling nine divisions, and that year General Ivan Fedyuninsky took command for a period. These formations were reassigned to the North Caucasus, Tavria and Kiev military districts, and the HQ moved to the Transcaucasus Military District.
In April 1956 its territory was assigned to the Odessa Military District and the district was disbanded.
V.I. Feskov et al. 2004 says that one of the units formed after the district disestablished, from its former units, may have been the 32nd Army Corps at Simferopol.
